Walter Whitney (Segal) is vice-president en heeft het goed voor elkaar, behalve dat hij van zijn vrouw geen seks krijgt. Haar vader is zijn baas en op de hoogte van zijn relatie met een zwarte vrouw voor zijn carrière als copywriter begon. Uit deze relatie is een zwarte zoon geboren waar hij nu pas van hoort. Hij verbergt zelf zijn joodse afkomst, en al snel stapelen de problemen zich op, en raakt hij zijn baan, auto, creditcards en vrouw kwijt.
