Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog vlucht een weduwe met haar kinderen naar het huis op het platteland waar ze haar jeugdjaren heeft doorgebracht. Ze vindt er de geschreven muziek van haar geliefde Amerikaanse songs, een hobby die ze destijds met haar vrienden deelde. Wanneer een Amerikaans legervliegtuig in de omgeving neerstort, geeft ze de piloot die op de vlucht is voor de Duitsers, onderdak.
