Joy kampt met een seksverslaving en beseft dat ze hulp moet zoeken. Ze gaat naar een groep voor gelijkgestemden waar ze Maddie ontmoet, haar toekomstige sponsor. Ze komen goed overeen en Joy mag zelfs in het gasthuis van Maddie verblijven, zolang ze zich maar houdt aan de afspraken omtrent haar verslaving. Tijdens haar verblijf vindt Joy een drumstel en ontmoet ze Maddie's broer Jim. Samen delen ze een passie voor de muziek en een hechte vriendschapsband.
