Metaldrummer Ruben begint zijn gehoor te verliezen. Als een dokter hem vertelt dat zijn toestand zal verslechteren, denkt hij dat zijn carrière en leven voorbij zijn. Zijn vriendin Lou checkt de voormalige verslaafde in in een afkickkliniek voor doven in de hoop dat dit een terugval zal voorkomen en hem zal helpen zich aan zijn nieuwe leven aan te passen. Nadat Ruben is verwelkomd en geaccepteerd zoals hij is, moet hij kiezen tussen zijn nieuwe normaal en het leven dat hij ooit kende.
