Dorine Douglas is een verlegen en weinig gewaardeerde redactrice van een tijdschrift. Haar wereld stort in als haar bazige hoofdredactrice Virginia haar verplicht om thuis te gaan werken. Om een nacht, terwijl ze haar collega Gary helpt met een nieuw computerprogramma, elektrocuteert ze hem per ongeluk. Ze dumpt het lijk in haar auto en neemt het mee naar huis. De verdwijning van Gary zorgt voor heel wat stress, maar daar weet Dorine voordeel uit te halen. Tot haar verbazing geeft dit voorval haar zelfs een ongelooflijke kick. Ze slaagt erin om iedereen om te tuin te leiden, vermoordt wie ze wil en verstopt de lijken van haar collega's in haar kelder. Alleen secretaresse Kim ruikt onraad.
