Wanneer nazi-Duitsland zijn land overheerst, kijkt Martin hulpeloos toe hoe de Joodse gemeenschap naar werkkampen wordt gedeporteerd. In tegenstelling tot anderen, ontsnapt hij op miraculeuze wijze aan de dood. Hij sluit zich dan aan bij de verzetsstrijders om een genadeloze strijd tegen de nazi's te voeren.
