Erica Bain heeft een radioprogramma in New York. Ze leidt een gelukkig leven en is stapelgek op haar verloofde. Dit wordt haar allemaal ontnomen wanneer het stel wordt overvallen. Zij raakt zwaargewond en hij overlijdt aan zijn verwondingen. Erica kan deze tragedie niet verwerken en speurt 's nachts de straten af naar de mannen die zij verantwoordelijk houdt. Haar strijd voor rechtvaardigheid trekt de aandacht en de stad siddert door haar anonieme daden. De politie van New York maakt wanhopig jacht op de dader en een rechercheur zit haar op de hielen. Ze zal moeten beslissen of ze doorgaat op het ingeslagen pad en verandert in degene die ze probeert te bestrijden.
