Remake van 'Valley of the Giants' (1938). Californië, 19e eeuw. De medogenloze houtbaron Jim Fallon verrijkt zich door de handel in speciale houtsoorten. De houtsoort, die Fallon het meest oplevert groeit echter op het grondgebied van een kolonie Quakers, die hij uit het houtrijke gebied wil verjagen. De Quakers doen verwoede pogingen om Fallon op andere gedachten te brengen.
