Deze film speelt zich af in Engeland en de Verenigde Staten met scènes vanaf zijn vijfde jaar, voordat hij de film ontdekte waarmee hij 40 jaar lang een fenomenaal succes beleeft. Als slachtoffer van de heksenjacht moet hij in 1952 Amerika verlaten. Twintig jaar later maakt hij echter een glorieuze comeback. Chaplin is het avontuur van een verbeten perfectionist die zijn eenvoudige herkomst oversteeg, en zijn beproevingen omvormde tot een universele komedie.
Nee, helaas is Chaplin nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
