Een geleerde met een obsessie voor snelweg-attracties, en zijn in een tv-serie spelende dochter bezoeken het grootste ijshoorntje ter wereld. Door omstandigheden komen ze voor een aantal dagen vast te zitten in de kleine woestijn gemeenschap waar het hoorntje staat. Dochter Skye maakt kennis met de verveelde, excentrieke tieners van het kleine plaatsje.
