'Mute' speelt zich af in de nabije toekomst en volgt een barman die de naam Leo draagt en in de bruisende stad Berlijn woont. Door een ongeluk in zijn jeugd heeft Leo het vermogen om te kunnen praten verloren en het enige goede in zijn leven is zijn vriendin Naadirah.
