De film gaat over een bureaubeambte van de Britse veiligheidsdienst die, om een vriend in Afrika te helpen, gevoelige informatie doorspeelt aan de Sovjet-Unie. Hij begint zich achter de oren te krabben wanneer zijn onschuldige naaste collega opeens wordt 'verwijderd'.
