Een Britse elite kostschool voor meisjes, in 1934; Miss G. is lerares en belichaamt alles wat de meisjes verlangen: ze heeft lak aan regels, rookt en is één brok sensualiteit. Ze draagt zelfs soms een broek! Miss G. is vastbesloten de meisjes wat meer te leren dan de strakke regeltjes uit hun leefomgeving. Ze wil hen laten leven en voor zichzelf laten denken, wat ze onder meer stimuleert door feestjes en een erotische vrijheid op te wekken. De meisjes zijn dolblij met hun vrijdenkende lerares. Maar er ontstaan scheurtjes in de relatie wanneer sommige meisjes zich bedreigd voelen in de machtsstructuur en er bovendien een mooie nieuwe Spaanse arriveert.
