Het is mei 1945, slechts enkele dagen na het einde van de oorlog. Een groep Duitse krijgsgevangenen wordt naar Denemarken gebracht en gedwongen om de 2 miljoen landmijnen te ontmantelen die door de Duitse bezetters werden verspreid langs de Westkust.
