Een gemene koningin en haar minnaar beramen een moord op de goede zoon van de koningin, Wenceslas. Zij willen hiermee bewerkstelligen dat zijn jongere, corrupte broertje op de troon komt, zodat zij zelf de macht in handen kunnen houden.
