Tijdens de jaarwisseling reizen drie eenzame personages naar een kleine stad op het Uruguayaanse platteland. Cesar, een gescheiden man, komt naar de stad waar hij zal dineren met de nieuwe familie van zijn ex-vrouw om zo de liefde van zijn dochtertje te winnen. Antonio, een eenvoudige goochelaar, komt naar de stad om zijn kunsten te vertonen in het buurthuis, maar zijn auto gaat kapot. Gestrand op een verlaten weg, ontmoet hij Laura. Laura werkt bij het tolstation. Miguel, een artiest, bereidt zijn muzikale terugkeer voor en zal in het buurthuis, tijdens het nieuwjaarsfeest, gaan zingen. Vanuit deze situaties krijgt ieder personage de kans om zijn lot te bepalen.
