Maak plaats Don Juan en Casanova - jullie krijgen concurrentie van niemand minder dan Herbert H. Heebert (Jerry Lewis). Nadat hij door zijn meissie aan de kant is gezet, zweert Herbert alle romantische relaties af en is vastbesloten om zijn leven voortaan als een overtuigde vrijgezel te slijten. Hij vindt echter al snel een baan in een vrouwenpension in Hollywood - en de vrouwelijke bewoners zijn helemaal gek op de nieuwe medewerker! En zo promoveert de ongelukkige Herbert van eenvoudige klusjesman naar The Ladies Man!
