Helen Cuffe verliest in 1981 haar man door een aanslag in Noord-Ierland, waarna ze verhuist naar een klein Iers dorpje om daar een nieuw leven op te bouwen. de republiek Ierland een nieuw bestaan met haar zoon op te bouwen. Ze ontmoet een man met een liefde voor treinstations.
