Dave Burke is een voormalig agent die nu een bank wil beroven, en daarvoor de racistische Earl Slater en de zwarte Johnny Ingram inhuurt, wat onvermijdelijk tot conflicten lijdt. Het plannen van de overval wordt hierdoor niet makkelijker, maar Burke heeft het geld nodig en denkt niet aan stoppen.
