Het negentien jaar oude, islamitisch opgevoede plattelandsmeisje Cahaya komt aan in Jakarta met niet meer dan een stukje papier met daarop het adres van Saiful, haar vader die ze in vijftien jaar niet zag. Saiful draagt tegenwoordig weinig verhullende kleding en werkt in een rosse buurt. Zijn eerste reactie op Cahaya is er één van afwijzende boosheid, maar langzamerhand weet zijn dochter tot hem door te dringen.
Nee, helaas is Lovely Man nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
