Voor het nieuwsgierige bijtje Maya is het niet altijd makkelijk zich aan de regels van de bijenkorf te houden. Eén van die regels is om de horzels die buiten de korf leven nooit te vertrouwen. Wanneer de koninginnengelei – levensnoodzakelijk voor de koningin van de bijenkorf – wordt gestolen, verdenkt men meteen de horzels. Maya wordt er zelfs van beschuldigd ook in het complot te zitten! Niemand gelooft in haar onschuld, behalve haar beste vriend Willy. De avontuurlijke en nieuwsgierige Maya ontvlucht de bijenkorf en gaat samen met Willy op onderzoek uit. Na een lange en spannende tocht ontdekken Maya en Willy wat er echt aan de hand is. Maar zullen ze nog op tijd zijn om de koningin te redden?
