Tijdens de nadagen van de Tweede Wereldoorlog valt een Amerikaanse luitenant per ongeluk uit een vliegtuig op Duits grondgebied. Hij wordt opgevangen door een barones die verliefd op hem wordt en niet wil dat hij weggaat, dus vertelt ze hem niet dat de oorlog is afgelopen... vijf jaar lang!
