Sheriff Scott Hanson stuit op een man die gewond en bewusteloos in de sneeuw ligt met een kostuum van de Kerstman aan. Hij brengt hem naar het ziekenhuis en de man eindigt in een coma. Wanneer de feestdagen aanbreken, ontwaakt de man op magische wijze uit zijn coma en beweert Kris Kringle, oftewel de Kerstman, te zijn. De inwoners van de stad zijn sceptisch en hij wordt berecht om te bewijzen of hij echt is wie hij zegt te zijn.
