Benjamin Purvis is een 16-jarige jongen die thuis les krijgt van zijn moeder. Hij schrijft al jaren sciencefictionverhalen en zij maakt bijzondere dameskleding. Via de thuislesvereniging gaat Benjamin naar een schrijfkamp, waar hij Tabatha en Lonnie ontmoet. Ook krijgt hij er een workshop van zijn grote voorbeeld, de sci-fi schrijver Chevalier. Als deze Benjamins boek 'Yeast Lords' te lezen krijgt, ziet hij er wel iets in - om zelf te publiceren. Ondertussen benaderen ook Tabatha en Lonnie Benjamin om zijn verhaal te gebruiken - voor een zelf gemaakte film...
