De wereld van de zeventienjarige Mariah Mundi stort in wanneer zijn ouders plotseling verdwijnen waardoor hij alleen met zijn broer Felix achterblijft. Wanneer onbekende daders zijn jonge broer ontvoeren heeft hij geen andere keuze dan samen met de vreemde avonturier Kapitein Charity de achtervolging in te zetten. Het spoor leidt hen van het Victoriaanse Londen naar het mysterieuze Prince Regent, een majestueus hotel op een klein eiland in de verste uithoek van het Rijk.
