Kleinman (Allen), een onbeduidende boekhouder, wordt gerekruteerd door een onbekwame groep burgerwachten en wordt gedwongen op zoek te gaan naar een beruchte moordenaar. Hij loopt in plaats daarvan de opvliegende zwaardslikster Irmy (Farrow) tegen het lijf, die het circus de rug wil toekeren, en haar vriend, een clown (Malkovich). Kleinman, vastbesloten Irmy te helpen en te ontkomen aan de burgerwachten, staakt zijn zoektocht naar de moordenaar. Kleinman en Irmy storten zich halsoverkop in de nacht en komen in een mysterieuze wereld terecht van schaduwen en mist.. waaruit zij wellicht nooit meer zullen ontsnappen.
Nee, helaas is Shadows and Fog nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
