Rond 1930, Parijs. Gilda Bessé deelt haar appartement met Guy, een Ierse schoolmeester en Mia, een Spaanse vluchtelinge. De oorlog komt steeds dichterbij terwijl Gilda zich tegoed doet aan haar hedonistische levensstijl en elitaire carriere in de fotografie. Guy en Mia echter, besluiten de strijd tegen fascisme te steunen en de drie vrienden groeien uit elkaar.
