Crazy is geïnspireerd door het verhaal van de legendarische gitaar speler Hank Garland. In 1950 verhuist Hank Garland naar Nashville. Daar leert hij gitaar spelen en op korte tijd was hij de bekendste, beste speler in Nashville. Artiesten zoals Roy Orbison, Patsy Cline, The Everly Brothers en Elvis zochten allemaal Hank's briljante spel voor hun opnames. Garland verhuisde van stad naar stad en werd al snel herkend door sterren zoals Dave Bruebeck, Gary Burton, Joe Morello en Joe Benjamin. Maar kan Garland wel omgaan met deze roem?
