Alice en Darlene, beste vrienden, besluiten het behalen van hun diploma te vieren met een reisje naar Thailand. Daar raken ze bevriend met de Australiër Nick Parks, die hen overhaalt om met hem mee te gaan naar Hong Kong. Op het vliegveld worden ze echter opgepakt wegens drugssmokkel. Ze worden veroordeeld tot 33 jaar cel, en in hun wanhoop nemen ze contact op met de Amerikaanse advocaat Hank.
