Vier tieners uit Harlem ontdekken tijdens een dagje spijbelen dat een vriend bij een schietpartij omgekomen is. Ze komen tot de conclusie dat ze geen respect genieten, en besluiten dit te verkrijgen door het overvallen van een kruidenier. Hierbij wordt de winkelier echter neergeschoten door één van hen.
