Noah Cruise, een natuurlijk begaafde basketbalspeler, is voorbestemd dokter te worden door gebruik te maken van zijn basketbal-studiebeurs aan de UCLA. Dit liever dan te bezwijken voor het grote geld als lokmiddel van talentagent Vaughn en naar de NBA te gaan. Zijn beste vriend, die al voor hem in dezelfde val liep, heeft in de gevangenis gezeten voor een overval. Tech, ook een schitterende basketbalspeler, heeft veel mindere ambities: hij wil een ondergrondse en onwettelijke straatwedstrijd spelen tegen zijn arrogante rivaal, Jewelz. Hun levens veranderen echter drastisch wanneer beiden verliefd worden op twee lokale meisjes, Vanessa Lilly en Eboni Jackson, met wie zijn een trip ondernemen vanuit Los Angeles.
