Het verhaal over twee New Yorkse koppels en de problemen in hun relaties. Actrice Rebecca is getrouwd met Tom en na al haar pogingen er iets aan te doen lijkt het toch alsof hun huwelijk nu ten einde komt. Ook haar broer Tobey en zijn schrijvende vriendinnetje Elaine hebben zo hun problemen. De twee hautaine koppels moeten veel moeite doen om hun relaties in leven te houden.
