Jean, fotograaf voor een krant, onderzoekt de sensationele bijl-moord van twee vrouwen in 1873. Ze ontdekt een aantal kranten die de beschrijving van een ooggetuige geven over wat er gebeurd is. De film volgt het verhaal van de ooggetuige, afgewisseld met de privé problemen van Jean, die te kampen heeft met jaloezie en verdenkingen binnen haar huwelijk.
Nee, helaas is The Weight of Water nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
