Jeffrey Manchester, een voormalig Army Ranger en worstelende vader, verdient zijn bijnaam 'Roofman' door via het dak in te breken bij McDonald's filialen. Na zijn ontsnapping uit de gevangenis houdt hij zich maandenlang onopgemerkt schuil in een Toys “R” Us-winkel om zich te beraden op zijn volgende stap. Wanneer hij gevoelens ontwikkelt voor Leigh, een gescheiden moeder die valt voor zijn charmes, begint zijn dubbelleven te wankelen. Wat volgt is een spannend kat-en-muisspel, waarin zijn verleden hem onvermijdelijk inhaalt.
