Om zijn gezin een beter leven te bieden, neemt politieagent Ray Hayes een belangrijke beslissing: hij wisselt van kant en werkt vanaf dat moment voor de georganiseerde misdaad. Vijf jaar later zijn Ray en zijn vrouw Alice eindelijk binnen handbereik van hun grote droom om hun eigen restaurant te openen. Ray wil het zijn van een crimineel zonder meer opgeven. Maar wanneer de nieuwe gangsterbaas Lonny het bedrijf overneemt, volgen de gebeurtenissen elkaar snel op. Na een mislukte missie wordt Ray ineens zelf een doelwit. Achtervolgd door de maffia, moeten Ray en Alice al hun vaardigheden benutten in een turbulente nacht om het leven van hun nietsvermoedende kinderen te beschermen. Want Ray is niet de enige in de familie die een geheim met zich meedraagt.
