Nick, een gladde jongen, wil een afspraakje met Suzanne, een net gescheiden jonge vrouw, voor oudjaarsavond. Enige probleem is dat Suzanne vastzit in Vancouver voor haar werk en zich beroerd voelt omdat ze haar kinderen mist. Nick grijpt deze mogelijkheid aan om een goede beurt te maken. Hij besluit haar 8 jaar oude zoontje Kevin en haar 11 jaar oude dochter vanuit Portland, Oregon naar Vancouver te brengen, om herenigd te worden met hun moeder. Wat Nick nog niet weet is dat haar kinderen een hekel hebben aan elke man die in de buurt van hun moeder komt..
