Verhaal gebaseerd op het gelijknamige toneelstuk over de paniek rondom het nieuws van de HIV-AIDS uitbraak in New York in de jaren '80. Hoewel de bestuurders het nieuws zoveel mogelijk in de doofpot trachtten te stoppen, vochten homo-activisten en de medische wereld al snel om het bespreekbaar te maken en de ziekte zo snel mogelijk een halt toe te brengen.
Nee, helaas is The Normal Heart nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
