Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog krijgen zes soldaten de opdracht om tegen elke prijs de enorme Duitse kanonnen op het Griekse eiland Navarone te vernietigen. Deze kanonnen zijn in een onneembare rots gebouwd en controleren een strategische zeestraat in de Egeïsche zee.
