Lara heeft afschuwelijke visioenen... en ze worden steeds erger. Haar psychiater gelooft dat de sleutel tot haar behandeling ligt in het vinden van de bron van haar trauma, ergens verborgen in Lara's verleden. Ron, Lara's man en een vrome christen, heeft andere plannen. Hij gelooft dat het probleem een spirituele is en dat een exorcisme de enige manier is om haar ziel te redden. Aangespoord door een meedogenloze exorcist en een gemeente van fanatiekelingen, zullen ze een onschuldige vrouw door de hel slepen terwijl ze proberen haar naar de hemel te sturen.
