Als de jonge Mehrdad een begraafplaats bezoekt om te tekenen, ontmoet hij Chiyo, een oudere vrouw met wie hij een vriendschap ontwikkelt. Dan verdwijnt ze plotseling. Nu hij volwassen is, stoft Mehrdad zijn oude schetsboek af en haalt hij herinneringen op aan die emotioneel ingrijpende tijd in zijn leven.
