Overgekwalificeerd en ondergewaardeerd werkt Rita bij een groot advocatenkantoor dat voornamelijk zware criminelen tot hun clientèle mag rekenen. Ze ontvangt een mysterieus telefoontje van drugsbaron Manitas Del Monte. Hij doet Rita een aanbod dat ze niet kan weigeren. Ze zal nooit meer hoeven te werken als ze hem helpt zijn imperium achter zich te laten.
