Het pas getrouwde koppel Eva en Jarda Tuma heeft geen eigen plaats om te wonen en voor een kleine is er dus geen plaats. Maar dan levert Moeder Natuur een streek: Eva is zwanger. In het hospitaal wordt ze de moeder van een vijfling. Deze gebeurtenis wordt natuurlijk breed uitgemeten in de pers en de autoriteiten besluiten een commissie in het leven te roepen onder leiding van Drahoslav Svitácek om Eva en Jarda te ondersteunen.
