Ditch Brodie, een roekeloze instrukteur voor parachutespringen, raakt verwikkeld in een internationaal complot nadat een leerlinge van hem te pletter valt tijdens de les. Het mysterie wordt nog groter als hij iets verbijsterends ontdekt: zijn 'beginnende' leerlinge was een ervaren parachutiste van de KGB. Hoe dieper hij in de zaak duikt, hoe gevaarlijker het blijkt te worden.
