Scarlet is dierenarts van beroep. Samen met haar zoontje Milo woont ze in een grote stad. Scarlet en Milo reizen per trein naar een klein stadje in Vermont om er de kerstdagen door te brengen. Daar ontmoet Scarlet de aantrekkelijke dokter Josh, een bekende van haar vader. De twee brengen samen tijd door en worden verliefd op elkaar.
