Lou wil haar geboortestad verlaten en verhuizen naar New York. Ze hoopt dat ze daar kan doorbreken als schrijfster. Voordat ze vertrekt doet ze mee aan de lokale kerstactiviteiten. Zo ontmoet Lou de kok Kyle, die in de stad is om zijn tante te helpen met haar restaurant. De twee lopen elkaar echter voortdurend tegen het lijf en de vonk slaat over. Ze beginnen hun toekomstplannen in twijfel te trekken.
