Sir Richard Burton, de negentiende eeuwse ontdekkingsreiziger, heeft gedronken van de fontein van de eeuwige jeugd. Hij werkt in het Toronto Natural History Museum, waar hij een tentoonstelling over aids organiseert. Burton beschuldigt de steward Zero, de eerste aidspatiënt in Canada, dat deze de ziekte heeft meegebracht en verspreid in Noord-Amerika. Om deze aanklacht te weerleggen komt de geest van patiënt Zero tot leven. Het zoeken naar een schuldige blijkt net zo dodelijk te zijn als de ziekte zelf.
