Becky en Sandra zijn niet de beste vriendinnen. Sandra is van middelbare leeftijd en manager bij een fastfoodrestaurant. Becky is een tiener die echt de behoefte heeft aan een baan. Tijdens een stressvolle dag wordt Becky door een politieagent er van beschuldigd geld te hebben gestolen uit een tas van een klant, wat zij heftig ontkent. Sandra, overweldigd door haar leidinggevende verantwoordelijkheid, geeft toe aan het bevel van de agent om Becky aan te houden. Deze keuze zet een nachtmerrie in gang die op tragische wijze de grenzen tussen doelmatigheid, voorzichtigheid, wettelijkheid en redelijkheid doet vervagen.
