Na de première verzamelt de theatergroep zich in een bar om feest te vieren. De vrolijke bijeenkomst wordt echter verstoord door een dronken Sovjet officier. Hij staat erop een jerrycan benzine te verkopen. Maar wanneer hij de ongemakkelijkheid, de verborgen haat, de lafheid en de verlegenheid van de mensen daar voelt, begint hij met zijn opdringerigheid van de situatie te genieten. Wanneer hij zijn pistool uit de holster haalt, begint de situatie uit de hand te lopen. De mensen in de bar worden plotseling "vrijheidsstrijders" tegen de Russische bezetting.
