In de haven van Sète werkt de zestiger Slimane in een scheepswerf. Hij is gescheiden en heeft vijf kinderen met wie hij nog veel contact heeft. Slimane verdient niet veel en door zijn ouderdom wordt het zware werk in de scheepswerf moeilijker. Hij heeft één droom: het opzetten van een eigen restaurant. Maar door zijn lage loon heeft hij nu al moeite zichzelf te onderhouden; hij heeft niet eens spaarcenten om zijn droom te verwezenlijken. Naar gelang de tijd verstrijkt en Slimane uit weemoed veel spreekt over zijn droom, besluiten zijn ex-vrouw en de kinderen er alles aan te doen zijn droom te laten uitkomen.
