Pat Peoples is een man die alles van de zonnige kant bekijkt. Nadat hij uit het ziekenhuis ontslagen is en hij zijn vrouw verloren heeft aan een andere man, is hij er van overtuigd dat hij haar weer voor zich kan winnen en zijn leven weer op de rails kan krijgen. Pat verhuist terug naar zijn ouders en wijdt zich geheel aan de opgave om de man te worden die zijn vrouw altijd had gewild.
